The Inspiration
We begin with a poetic vision that emerges, as if out of the mist, shifting from the abstract to the tangible. A Mediterranean port at a time when international trade routes flooded the luxury market with exotic objects. The longing for the sumptuous, for rare materials, for the piece that comes from faraway. A city of light and shadow. A home that turns inward, near the water, surrounded by reflections and silhouettes. A visual identity intertwined with history, blending past and present, East and West. Venice or Spain—both ports, both cultural crossroads. A jewelry box. A precious object made extraordinary by the unexpected. The cabinet of a merchant.
We translate this vision into an interior design undertaking where materials and objects hold meaning through their visual and tactile qualities, carefully
arranged to create a journey—like a guided tour through a collection of curiosities. Both sight and movement are directed, and the space unfolds as a path with distinct stages and focal points. Bright areas contrast with semi-shadowed spaces, corners turn into rich, private interiors reminiscent of sacred architecture, and materials are combined to orchestrate a sequence of emotions evoked by their textures, colors, and connotations.
Stone, black-stained wood, brass, stucco, large-scale sculptures, velvet, theatrical lighting, glass and gilded mirror, rich textiles, objects distant in time and origin, art.

The spaces
In this long and narrow residence, we enhance the circularity of the central piece to transform it into the true “heart” of the home, both in function and layout. The rotunda-like shape and the placement of the table create a space that acts as a magnetic core, a focal point from which two visual lines extend: one toward the façade and the other inward. Visually, this space expands into
two dimly lit areas that, in turn, lead toward brighter spaces beyond. Here, the ideas of movement and the interplay of light and shadow begin to take shape. The presence of a greenhouse and a sculptural focal point on a pedestal serve as visual anchors, drawing the eye and inviting one to linger. It is a living room. In this home, there are no transitional spaces.

A door theatrically opens into the dressing room and master bedroom—an intimate sanctuary where material richness and comfort are balanced in harmony. The spatial journey culminates in the stone-clad shadows of the shower, completing the chiaroscuro sequence that defines the home, from its most open and luminous spaces to its most private and introspective corners

Moving forward, we reach the study, a naturally lit space that continues the chiaroscuro sequence and introduces a distinct function within the private quarters. Positioned between the two bedrooms, it is a shared, hybrid space—both physically and conceptually removed from the social areas of the house.

A retreat within the home. We envisioned a cell, a living unit within the residence—a meditation room that is, in essence, a refuge: a cube of black-stained wood, an autonomous and private space, but above all, a small manifesto on the essentials needed to live beautifully: rest, water, and art.

Returning to the rotunda, we move in the opposite direction toward the kitchen, where a long central element visually echoes the table in the Japanese salon, guiding the gaze toward the private quarters. The visual axis concludes at a set of gilded brass double doors, which open into a space of half-light and quiet intrigue. At that moment, lateral light filters in from one visible source and another, more distant, perceived only as a suggestion. We have entered a world as sumptuous as it is intimate.

Moving toward the façade, we step into the social area—a space for gatherings, celebration, and self-expression, divided into two sections. The first is the “Japanese salon,” designed for informal or private dinners, where conversations unfold around a low table. Soft, intersecting light and large-scale geometric forms on the walls create a delicate balance, enhancing the perception of openness.

Beyond lies the main salon—a space designed to play with perception, creating new axes and imagined perspectives. The eye, naturally drawn to the balconies, is then redirected to the opposite wall, clad in gilded mirror, evoking a jewelry box. To the east, a wardrobe suggests the possibility of continuity beyond the wall. Grand-scale columns, in an optical illusion, expand the proportions of the space.
A Museum-Inspired Route
The collection of French, Spanish, and Italian sculptures is arranged in a precise order, much like a museum exhibit, guiding visitors through a journey of history and beauty.

Materials
A pursuit of light and noble craftsmanship.
The design process of Myttas Uno has been an exercise in harmonizing modernity and tradition—a dance of carefully selected materials, each chosen to evoke distinct sensations and forge a deep connection with the space.
One of the essential elements of this narrative is stone, which plays a fundamental role in Myttas Uno. A rare hazelnut-toned or warm dark ochre travertine was selected, its bold veining lending an organic character to the material. This travertine is daringly combined with granite, a stone emblematic of Madrid, achieving a fusion that balances the international with the local. The stone’s layout was deliberately designed to avoid large, artificial slabs, allowing the natural veining to take center stage and creating textures that enhance the authenticity of the space.
A symphony of materials and craftsmanship.
The creation of Myttas Uno was a meticulous collaboration with master artisans, bringing noble materials like stone, stucco, brass, and mosaic to life in a truly unique way. From mosaic restorers in Seville to experts in traditional stucco, the finest craftspeople were chosen for their ability to transform ideas into tangible realities.
The design process was not rigid but evolved alongside the techniques, allowing concepts to improve as they took shape. Working directly with artisans enriched the project, as their technical mastery introduced new possibilities. This constant dialogue between designer and craftsman was essential in giving each element of the home its singular identity. Prototyping allowed ideas to develop organically, adapting to the possibilities of each material while always maintaining deep respect for the craft.
What truly sets Myttas Uno apart is the story each material tells. Every piece is a reinterpretation of tradition, transformed into contemporary design that exudes quality, authenticity, and meticulous attention to detail. Handmade with a level of precision impossible to replicate elsewhere, this project embodies the essence of the unrepeatable.

Location
At the Heart of One of the World’s Most Vibrant Cities.
There is a crossroads in Madrid, much like an estuary where several rivers converge. To the east, the luxury of the Salamanca district. To the south, the artistic and nightlife energy of Chueca. To the north and west, the welcoming, residential character of Chamberí. This is where you’ll find Madrid’s historic art galleries—Marlborough, Orfila, Elvira González. This is where we return to restaurants, knowing they will always be exceptional—La Manduca de Azagra, Fismuler, Saddle, La Cabra, La Parra. This is where we browse boutiques in search of under-the-radar local brands. In this neighborhood of grand avenues and Parisian-inspired architecture, we experience the city as it is today—elegant, vibrant, young yet established, modern yet timeless, luxurious yet effortlessly relaxed. But it is also a members-only enclave, where Madrid’s cosmopolitan social and cultural life weaves its networks and friendships. It is here that Norman Foster and Cristina Masaveu Peterson have chosen to establish their foundations. Where Marta Ortega and Rafa have made their homes. Where Carolina Herrera Junior is launching a new project—a gathering place for lovers of beautiful things, designed to foster a like-minded community. This is also home to Club Monteverdi, a hub for patronage, business, music, and philanthropy, and soon, it will welcome the next Soho House.
